The Tax Cuts and Jobs Cuts Act of 2017 will have long term impacts upon both individuals and businesses. In 2018 the first of these impacts will heavily involve the individual taxpayer’s ability to deduct many of the itemized deductions we have been accustomed to using.

Food Assistance

The Muskegon County Cooperating Churches organization operates the Mobile Food Pantry which provides families and individuals with fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as, diary products. For more information including locations and times see the Foodmobile Schedule.

Rent, Mortgage and Utility Bill Assistance

Both short term financial help and longer term guidance and counseling is available from the Muskegon - Oceana Community Action Partnership (MOCAP).

Rent and Mortgage Assistance - The agency provides funds to assist local families with eviction prevention programs, foreclosure prevention and counseling for saving their homes.

Utility and Heating Fuel - The agency provides financial assistance for clients needing need help with shutoff prevention of utilities, including gas, electricity, etc.

emPower is a TrueNorth Community Services program which provides heat and utility bill assistance to qualified families throughout 64 counties in Michigan.
